Yesterday I got my first salary in Korea, and it felt more emotional than I expected. I treated myself to a simple dinner after work and just sat there thinking, wow, I really made it through the first month 🙂 There is nobody from my country in my office, so at first I thought I might feel a bit out of place, but actually it pushed me to talk more with everyone and listen carefully. Small things like coworkers explaining lunch menus or checking if I got home okay made this month feel warmer than I imagined. Just wanted to share a small happy update for anyone starting a new job here. Take it one day at a time, you’re doing better than you think.

Ayer recibí mi primer salario en Corea, y me emocionó más de lo que esperaba. Me regalé una cena sencilla después del trabajo y me quedé allí sentada pensando: vaya, de verdad superé el primer mes 🙂 No hay nadie de mi país en mi oficina, así que al principio pensé que podría sentirme un poco fuera de lugar, pero en realidad eso me impulsó a hablar más con todo el mundo y a escuchar con atención. Cosas pequeñas como que mis compañeros me explicaran los menús del almuerzo o se aseguraran de que había llegado bien a casa hicieron que este mes se sintiera más cálido de lo que imaginaba. Solo quería compartir una pequeña noticia feliz para cualquiera que esté empezando un nuevo trabajo aquí. Tómalo un día a la vez; lo estás haciendo mejor de lo que crees.
